The year is truly drawing to a close. I have three days of finals next week, and I'm done. Wednesday, the last day of classes, in Modern Latin American history we performed a ceremony that can be described best as "spiritual." Everyone brought a poem, a quote, and picture, ANYTHING that has touched them in a Modern Latin American-way over the past semester. I, personally, brought Canita's Cuban Restaurant Happy Hour Menu. We talked about our articles around candles inside and then we all marched outside, singing, playing drums or flutes. We dug a hole, lit our mementos on fire, and buried the semester.
Liberal Arts colleges are strange.
It reminds me of a chimera of Indian-Catholic riturals that I have seen in Mexico.
I have the same red purse as one of the girls in the last picture. Boring, but true. I wish we were instructed to burn things at ASU. Your brother and I did set things on fire a lot in BIO, but we always got in trouble for that.
