So a couple of weeks ago my teacher Elliot Young hosted a huge end of the year fiesta for everyone minoring, teaching, or someway associated with the Latin American Studies department here at Lewis & Clark. It was something else! It was a costume party, and everyone was invited to dress as their favorite Latin American pop star. I went as former Chilean President Salvador Allende. See if you can spot me!
Everyone keeps complaining that I never update. Maybe this is true, maybe it is. My life is relatively uneventful, though. Here's how it's going:
I have less than two weeks left of school this year!! Three days of classes this week, finals next week and that's it. Nothing. I only have three finals to take, out of my six classes, even. I have a huge, gigantic paper about the Nicaraguan response to the war in Iraq due tomorrow morning that I've only written one paragraph of so far, though. I should get on it.
I took piano lessons this year. I missed my recital. I thought it was today, but it was yesterday. I couldn't believe it, especially after I'd invited pretty much everyone I know. So now I have to go perform for the head of the piano department so I can pass my class and I'm just so terribly stressed out about that.
I saw Pedro the Lion Friday night. Yes!
Wow, so this is it, my very first weblog, generously provided on my dear brother John's domain name, jibunsagashi.com. jibun sagashi (I will not bother with punctuation, because I'll just get it wrong.) is Japanese for My Search or My Journey. Mi Viaje, of course, is spanish for My Journey. The two phrases have similiar connotations and in many respects, John and I are going through somewhat similar searches and journeys. On the linguistic front, John is studying Japanese at college, and I am studying Spanish. I won't go into further details on the deepest longings of my soul (nor his) because that would be far too much for my first blog. Yay.
